Lawrence Everett Engelking, 71, of North Vernon passed away at 5:30 PM on Friday, October 6, 2023, at Franciscan Health in Indianapolis. Lawrence was born on January 25, 1952, in Seymour to Lawrence R. and Esther (Foster) Engelking. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked as a Tube Mill Operator for Cosco in Columbus and General Plastics in Tacoma, Washington before his retirement. In his free time, he liked to hunt and fish, but his family was the most important thing to him.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Bill (Kristin) Engelking; granddaughters: Destiny, Alyssa, Alexis, and Olivia; brothers: Leroy, Mark (Starlene) Engelking and Russell (Sheila) Engelking; sister, Anita (Matt) Engleking; devoted dog and companion, Gizmo. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Chong Sun “June” Engelking, brothers: James and Herbert Engelking, and sister, Karen Kidd.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 AM on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Voss & Sons Funeral and Cremation Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Burial will follow in the First Marion Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday and from 10:30 AM until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
