Mr. Leo E. Von Dielingen, 91 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at 3:00 p.m., at the Hanover Health and Rehab Center in Hanover.
Leo was born in Jackson County on September 14, 1924, the son of the late Edward M. and Hilda (Baute) Von Dielingen.
Leo was a World War II Veteran, who served his country in the Infantry from 1942 to 1944.
He was a farmer all of his life. He liked to drive a truck and would haul cows and timber, whenever he could. He grew pumpkins and enjoyed working his pumpkins stand, in the fall.
Leo was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers, where he was a part of the men’s club. He was a good card player, and enjoyed going to Hardees and playing with his friends.
He always stayed active and was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1925, American Legion Post 89 and the Eagles Club all of Seymour.
On November 10, 1973, he married Patricia Ann Cassidy, who passed away December 20, 2007.
He is survived by his step children, Bill Hukill and Vicki (Bob) Sommer, 3 grandchildren that he enjoyed watching grow up, Krista Foster, Angie Sommer, and William Robbins, 7 great grandchildren, two sisters, Lora Mae Naffe and Carol Stuckwisch, several nieces and nephews. He always spent valuable time with his nephew Dana Naffe.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, step son Gary Hukill, brothers, Arnold and Hershel Von Dielingen, sisters, Alberta Baxter, Alice Eldridge, Lois Riley and Darlene Von Dielingen, 2 grandsons, Ryan Robbins and Robby Robbins, and 1 great granddaughter.
Funeral Service will be at Voss Chapel on Monday, December 21 at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Craig Muhlbach, officiating. . Flag and Taps presentation will be done at Voss Chapel with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. and on Monday after 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Burial will follow at the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made out to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sauers.
