Linda Kay Garrett, 81, beloved wife of Thomas W. Garrett, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.
Linda was born in Seymour, Indiana on July 6, 1942, to the late Maurice Eldon and Stella (Easterly) Robison. She attended Hayden School through eleventh grade. Due to the closure of Hayden High school, she graduated from Seymour High School Class of 1961. Linda married her high school sweetheart, Thomas, on November 17,1962. Linda loved watching the wildlife around their property, and keeping the wild birds fed. Among her favorites were the hummingbirds. Linda was an avid card player, playing canasta in the 1970s; euchre with a ladies card club in the 1980s; and later in life, solitaire and rummy with Tom. Linda was a life-long reader and doll collector. She enjoyed adult coloring and puzzle books. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and her family was the joy of her life.
Left behind to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 61 years, Thomas; sons, Rodney W. (Heida) Garrett, and Christopher (Larissa) Garrett; grandchildren, Samantha Garrett, Johnathan (Callie) Garrett, Tricia Garrett, Michelle Johnston Garrett, Ashley (Steve) Franklin, Tony (Liza) Lloyd, Janna (Ethan) Voss, Suzanne (Josh) Bauman, and Ellianna Waldron; ten great-grandchildren; sister, Rita (Stanley) Hall and brother Maurice (Dianne) Robison.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Jeremy Garrett; and sisters Twila Banister and Reva Porter Chastain.
Funeral services for Linda will be held on Monday, February 19, at 12:00 noon at Voss and Sons Funeral Service, 316 N. Chestnut Street, Seymour. Pastor Damon Spurgeon of Peter’s Switch Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 18, from 4-8pm at the funeral home and again Monday from 11am until the time of the service. Burial will immediately follow at Hayden Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made in Linda’s honor to the Hayden Historical Museum, Hayden Baptist Church, or the American Diabetes Association.
