Lloyd Eugene “Bob” Ratcliff, 88 of Cortland, Indiana, passed away June 10, 2015, in Seymour.
Bob was born in Jackson County, on August 19, 1926, to the late Frank and Bessie Callahan Ratcliff.
On January 6, 1945, he married Edna Mae Reichenbacher who preceded him in death.
Bob was a member of the Cortland Christian Church. He served in the US Army during WWII then went work as a Certified Tech Mechanic at several Chevrolet Dealerships. Starting at Brown’s, Jack Dunfee, Don Morris and Bob Poynter Chevrolet where he retired after 39 years. He was a life-long hunter and a member of the American Legion, the National Rifle Association, the North American Hunting Club and Brown County Tractor Association.
Bob had a love for racing as he owned several dirt track cars, which raced at local tracks in the area. He also enjoyed watching Nascar.
He is survived by his children, Penny S. (Don) Gilham, Linda L. (Bob) Claycamp, Reva K. Lucas, and one foster son, Tim Engelau; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Gross, Eric (Mendy) Burton, Melissa (Steve) Christian, Dana Claycamp, Jonathan Claycamp, Nathan (Carla) McKinney, and Angie (Scott) Lowe; 15 great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, several step grand and great-grandchildren, and one sister, Dorothy (Ced) Fowler.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one grandson, Jeffrey Wetzel, a brother, Audy Ratcliff, two sisters, Orpha Scott and Kathleen Allman, and a son-in-law, Ron Lucas.
Services will be held at Voss Chapel Saturday, June 13, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bill Weaver and Rev. Clifford Burton officiating.
Burial will be at Acme Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday, after 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
