Lois Arlene Byrkett, age 84, passed away March 12, 2023, at Four Seasons in Columbus, Indiana.

She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).  She was also a life member of VFW Post 1925 Auxiliary and member of American Legion Post 89 Auxiliary.

She was born in Seymour, Indiana on December 4, 1938, to Arch & Margaret Breitfield. She married Clayton Akins on January 14, 1966.  They were married 32 years until his death on November 24, 1998.  She married Russell Byrkett on October 12, 2001. They were married almost 19 years until his death on September 23, 2020.

Survivors include son, Scott (Jeanne) Akins; daughter, Barbara Roberson; bonus daughter, Janie (Larry) Gregg; grandchildren; Suzan Oswald, Baylee Willey (JD), Thomas Akins, Sarah Akins, bonus grandchildren, Russell (Bridget) Gregg, Angela Black; brother, William Breitfield, sister, Sharon Scott; great grandchildren, Carson Oswald, Rylin Saylor, and Grover Robertson; bonus great grandchildren, Nathan Black, Brandon Black, Meghan Black and Landon Gregg; and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by husbands, Clayton Akins, and Russell Byrkett; and one son-in-law, Grover Robertson, II.

Visitation will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Friday March 17, 2023, from 9:30am until the time of service at 10:30am. Rev. Dr. Ralph Blomenberg, Rev. Philip Bloch, Rev. James Rodriguez Jr, Rev. William Fredstrom, and Vicar Case Farney will be officiating.  Burial will be in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, Seymour, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML).
