Loren W. Schwade, 91 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, September 27, 2016, at Schneck Medical Center.
He was born January 10, 1925, in Florence, Indiana, the son of the late Fred W. and Mary (North) Schwade.
He married Ora L. Hunt on August 6, 1949, in Vevay, Indiana, and she survives.
Loren was a member of the German Reform Church in Florence, Indiana, and attended First Baptist Church in Seymour. He was a WWII Veteran of the US Army with the Antitank Company 90th Infantry Regiment where he was an M1 Rifle Marksman until he was wounded in combat. He was also a member of American Legion Post 89 and Disabled Veterans of America both of Seymour. He had been a Jackson County resident since 1957 where he worked at Davis Feed & Grain for 22 years before going to work at the Union Camp in Seymour until he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Ora, their children: Lorraine M. (Roger) Barker, Rose M. (Keith) Bode, Richard Allen (Kay) Schwade and Rita Jo (Joe) Schepman; ten grandchildren: Erica Barker (Michael Van Linden), Brad (Erin) Schepman, Ty (Kari) Schwade, Laura Molinaro (Stevie Cox), Cody Schwade, Leah (Kyle) Musselman, Ryan (Deana) Bode, Alison (Steve) Simpson, Michael (Julie) Bode and Troy Bode; great-grandchildren: Chase Van Linden, Alison Schwade, Lilly Molinaro, Brinley Schepman, Lyla Schepman, Morgan Schepman, Hayden Jo Musselman, Logan Bode, Dylan Bode, Olivia Simpson, Garrett Simpson, Davis Bode and Peyton Bode; and a great-great-grandson, Sawyer Bode.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Paul Edward Schwade, and a grandson, Jonathan Lee Schepman.
Funeral service will be held at Voss Chapel on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at 10:30 am with Rev. Jimmy Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.
Friends and family may gather at Voss Chapel on Friday from 4 to 8 pm and Saturday after 9:30 am until time of service.
