Billie Mae Wintin left a message on May 16, 2017:
I first met Marguerite in 1962 when she moved to Seymour with Barney and their young family. We became instant friends because our husbands were both coaches, and that friendship lasted for a lifetime. Our husbands became close friends and our children grew up together. Coaches' wives share a special bond that others may not completely understand. If your husband is a coach, you and your children share him with the team and its support group, their parents, the school, the fans and the community. In her case she also shared him with the entire state of Indiana because of his work with the Indiana High School Basketball Hall of Fame. There will be practices after school, many games and scouting at night, and tournaments on the weekends -- not to mention the Holiday Tournaments. Emotions go up and down with wins and losses. Your main activity is to keep the household on an even keel, celebrate the victories, and be comforting and patient in the defeats. Many times you are the adult in charge at home. Marguerite did all this with style and grace. She was blessed with a loving family who comforted and cared for her during her illness. It was a great pleasure for her to be close to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren during her last 2 1/2 years, and to have friends visit when they could. She did all that with style and grace as well. I am blessed to have been her friend. Billie Wintin
Meryl left a message on May 16, 2017:
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of, Mrs. Scott. With her accomplishments, her love and joys, she was an amazing woman! I won't pretend to know what you're going through, but what has helped me deal with the loss of those I love, is turning to the Scriptures, something that has been a real source of comfort. One Scripture that gives me hope is, John 11:25, which says, " Jesus said to her: "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life." I hope that this verse will also comfort you and, I hope you and your family can get through this difficult time. Please accept my condolences for the loss of your beloved mother, grandma and friend. Sincerely, Meryl
