Marie Colwell Allman, 89, of Seymour passed away Friday evening, May 19, 2023, at the Belmont Health & Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.  She was born on March 6, 1934, in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Adam and Rebecca (Huff) Colwell.  She married Carlin J. Allman on February 6^th, 1953, in Scottsburg and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2012.

Marie is survived by one son, Carlin E. Allman of Seymour; three grandchildren, Eric (Katie) Allman of Morgantown, Dustin (Angel) Allman of Columbus and Abbey Allman of Seymour.  In addition to her son and grandchildren Marie is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Kristopher, Jade, Derrick, Dominic, Brooklyn, Ryder, and Isabella; and one sister, Ruth Hopkins of North Vernon and a family friend, Michelle Anderson of North Vernon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers and three sisters.

Marie worked at the shirt factory in Seymour.  After working at the shirt factory, she volunteered at various nursing homes.  She enjoyed going to yard sales with friends, making crafts, flowering, and gardening, especially her iris’s.  When she wasn’t tending to her flowers or vegetables Marie enjoyed spending time outside with her grandkids and great grandkids, especially camping in the summer months.  She was a member of Surprise Christian Church.

A funeral service will be held for Marie on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at 1p.m. at Surprise Christian Church with Pastor Rick Grant officiating.  Burial will follow at Acme Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
