Mary Kate Schleibaum, 88, passed away on February 26, 2017. She was a resident of Seymour.
Born in Sparta, Tennessee, on March 2, 1928, she was the daughter of Willie and Millie (Campbell) Farley. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother James Earl Farley, as well as husband, John Carl Schleibaum, whom she wed in 1949.
Mary was a homemaker and devoted member of Central Christian Church, of which she was elected Elder Emeritus in 2004. She volunteered for a number of organizations including the Red Cross, Hoosier Christian Village and the church clothing center. In addition to her volunteer activities, Mary served as a charter member of the home economics club, Hearts of Home.
A 1947 graduate of Shields High School, Mary worked at the shoe factory, shirt factory and Murphy’s before her employment at Bake Rite Bakery where she met customer and future husband, John.
Survivors include son Rick (Peg) Schleibaum (Seymour) and daughters Kathy (Jim) Laudick-Rispoli (Nashville, IN), Brenda (Roger) Schaefer (Columbus, IN), and Bobbi (Glenn) Bosch (Indianapolis, IN); grandchildren Ryan Spires, Jobi Fouts, Craig, Clay and Cory Ruble, Mark Schaefer, Todd and Curt Schleibaum, Amy Meredith, and Hayden Bosch; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
The funeral service will be at 10:00AM on Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Voss & Sons funeral home. Burial will be at Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 1 at Voss Chapel and from 9 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, gifts be made to Central Christian Church or your preferred charity in Mary’s memory.
