Mary Louise Leahy

April 12, 1921 - January 20, 2016

Mary Louise “Lou” (Beatty) Leahy, 94, of Evansville, formerly of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2016 with her family by her side.

Mary Louise was born in Seymour, Indiana on April 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Oscar and Lois (Casey) Beatty.

Mary Louise attended elementary and high school in Seymour and then attended the local business college. She met her husband, J. Robert Leahy, while working as a secretary at Freeman Field Post Headquarters in Seymour. They were married at Kelly Field on May 12, 1945 in San Antonio, TX, the same day he became a second Lieutenant. Mary and Bob were married for 70 plus years. Mary Louise was a member of Alpha Beta chapter PSI Iota XI Sorority, Ladies Auxiliary for many years.

She is survived by her husband, her children, Patricia L. (Daniel) Beimesche, Kathryn L. (Michael) Wayne, Michael Leahy, Thomas (Peggy) Leahy and David (Beth) Leahy; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bill Beatty.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Voss Chapel. Burial will follow Riverview.

Friends may gather at Voss Chapel on Saturday after 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be written to Charity of Choice.

He was under the impression that the funeral service was tomorrow but we now realize it was Saturday and we missed it. So sorry to hear of Mary Lou's death. We've lost touch over the years, but I treasure wonderful memories of playing with the Leahy kids. Football in the side yard of Mrs. Beatty's house; sleeping on the porch; exploring the neighborhood and other fun times will never be forgotten.
