Mrs. Matilda Marie “Tillie” Bode, 90 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
Matilda was born in Sauers, Jackson County, Indiana, on March 30, 1925, to the late Edwin Henry and Lydia Wagner Stuckwisch.
On January 22, 1942, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour, she married Clifford Bode who passed away May 21, 1997.
Matilda was a devoted homemaker who worked part-time as a cook at White Creek School. She was a very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 10 years and a Ladies Bible Study Leader. She was also a member of LWML, Ladies Aid, and Senior League.
She is survived by her children: Jerry E. (Melveta) Bode, Richard W. “Rick” (Connie) Bode, Diane S. (David) Isaacs, and David “Davy” W. (Marcia) Bode; 10 grandchildren: Teresa “Tess” (Tom) Fetsko, Jerry “Bo” (Lori) Bode, Jr., Mark (Melissa) Sears, Krisi Bode (Clint) Symons, Jennifer Bode (Jeffery) Green, Dale (Sheena) Isaacs, Dennis (Karen) Isaacs, Debra (Ramin) Kazemi, Klarissa Bode, and Kyle Bode; 15 great grandchildren: Madison Bode, Arden Bode, Alex Sears, Lindsey Sears, Lillie Sears, Victoria Kastner, Kristina Kastner, Richie Symons, Alexis Symons, Paige (Justin) Gooch, C.J. Green, Austin Green, Joseph Green, Jesse Isaacs, and Eli Isaacs; two great-great-grandchildren: Laileh Byrdsong-Green and Waylon Gooch; 2 brothers: Ervin Stuckwisch and James (Lois) Stuckwisch; 2 sisters: Gertrude M. (Harold) Sutton and Carolyn L. Staley; and 2 sisters-in-law: Brenda Stuckwisch and Betty Stuckwisch.
Matilda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Karen Sears, grandson, 2 brothers, Kenneth E. Stuckwisch and Marvin Stuckwisch,, and 2 sisters, Mildred Lynch and Barbara Jean Williams.
Funeral service will be held Monday, June 1, 2015, at 2:00 pm at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel Sunday, May 31, 2015, from 2:00-6:00 pm and Monday after 1:00 pm until time of service at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek.
Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, White Creek, Bartholomew County, Indiana.
