Michael Scott Prewitt, age 76, of Seymour, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Schneck Medical Center.
Michael was born on May 14, 1947, in Seymour, to the late William “Scotty” Prewitt and Mary Helen (Bridgewater) Prewitt. He was a 1965 graduate of Seymour High School. After high school, Michael enlisted in the US Army and served in the Vietnam War. On April 2, 1976, he married the love of his life, Shirley Acton, who precedes him in death. Michael worked odd jobs for several years but enjoyed being a stay-at-home dad. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, reading history books, watching Cincinnati Red Baseball and Colts Football. He also enjoyed walking around Seymour, watching TV and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa Prewitt of Seymour; nephew, Mark Prewitt, Effingham, IL; and niece Janie Prewitt of Effingham, IL.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one daughter, Amy Michelle Prewitt, brother, Bill Prewitt and sister-in-law Jan Prewitt, nephews, Matt Prewitt, Scott Prewitt.
Funeral services for Michael will be held on Saturday, December 9 at 12 Noon at Voss and Sons Funeral Service. The family will receive guests at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10AM until the time of service. Burial and military honors will immediately follow at Riverview Cemetery.
