Norma Mary Russell passed away on October 5, 2023, at the Lutheran Community Home, Seymour, Indiana. Born November 7, 1926, in Champaign County, Illinois, she was the daughter of George H. and Amalie (Borcherding) Tape. Mrs. Russell was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she participated in various volunteer activities including the Altar Guild, funeral meals, and sewing altar linens and banners. On June 28, 1947, she was married to James L. Russell by the Reverend E.F. Urbahns at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Wegan, and was married for 64 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, George (Arlene) Tape, Jr. and Edgar (Frieda) Tape and sister, Irene (Rolland) Terkhorn.
Survivors include son, Mike (Carol) Russell of Seymour; daughter, Brenda (Rand) Brooks of Carmel, Indiana and Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Ryan (Yelena) Brooks of Bloomington, Indiana, Erin (Jose) Villarreal of Cumming, GA and Meghan (Robert) O’Flynn of Gainesville, FL; seven great grandchildren, Alexander, James, and Lucia Villarreal, Amalie, Emmet and Sean O’Flynn and Evelyn Brooks, several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be no visitation and graveside services will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Brownstown, Indiana on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11:00 AM with Revered Dr. Ralph Blomenberg officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
