Richard James Lucas

Richard J. “Dick” Lucas, Sr., 74 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Monday, October 31, 2016, at Core Nursing Home in Bedford, Indiana.

Dick was born September 8, 1942, in Seymour, Indiana, the son of the late James Everett and Dorothy (Jaynes) Lucas.

He married Gustina “Laura” Ritchie in 1962 in South Carolina, and she survives.

He was a member of The Tabernacle Church in Seymour and worked for Cummins Engine Company for years.

He is survived by his wife, children: Richard Lucas, Jr., Karen (Mark) Barnthouse and Melody (Jeff) Arnold; three grandchildren: Kayla, Sara and Sammy; five brothers: Harry, David, Tim, Robert and Mike Lucas; five sisters: Jean, Kathy, Sue, Claudia and Jo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sons: Harry W. Lucas and James Webb, Jr.

Graveside service will be held at Chestnut Ridge Cemetery on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. with full military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post 1925, American Legion Post 89, Disabled Veterans 47, Korean and Vietnam Veterans, all of Seymour.

All arrangements were made through Voss & Sons Funeral and Crematory Service, Seymour, Indiana.
