Robert G. “Bob” Darlage, 80 of Seymour, Indiana, passed away 12:52 a.m., on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at Schneck Medical Center, with his family and pastors by his side.
Bob was born in Seymour on August 30, 1935, the son of the late Walter and Elsie White Darlage.
Bob married Irma Janet Krumme on August 20, 1961. They were the First Couple married in Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where he was a very active member for many years. He was Lay Minister for 22 years, Head Usher, Zion Church Properties Board, Zion School Board, Parish Fellowship Committee, Wedding Coordinator, Oktoberfest Committee and Annual Dinner Committee.
He was life long farmer, who raised cattle, and had worked at Cummins Engine Company for 5 years. He served in the United States Army from August of 1958 to August of 1960 and was released as a sergeant.
Bob was very active in the community with rural youth, Hamilton Township Fire Department as Treasurer, Jackson County Cattleman Association as Director for 12 years, and a Livestock Hauler. He enjoyed spending time with his family and playing dartball.
Bob is survived by his wife of 54 years, Irma, three daughters, Greta (Derek) Achenbach, Kathe (Perry) Preston,and Jill (Andrew) Kamman, Grandchildren, Lizzy, Katy, Geoffrey, Jackie, Shelby, Samantha, Eli, Kody and Brittney, a brother, Thomas (Karen) Darlage; a sister, Janet Darlage Myers; a sister-in-law, Patricia Darlage Klosterman; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Walter E., James, and Roger Dean Darlage.
Funeral service will be at Zion Lutheran Church, 1501 Gaiser Dr., Seymour, on Tuesday, December 15 , 2015, at 11:00 a.m., with The Rev. Jeffrey Stuckwisch and Rev. Edgar Keinath officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, with full Military Graveside Rites.
Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel on Monday, December 14, 2015, from 2 to 8 p.m. and from Zion Lutheran Church on Tuesday after 10 a.m. until time of service.
