Robert Martinez

Robert Martinez, 68 of Medora, Indiana, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born November 3, 1947, in Austin, Texas, the son of Ralph Martinez and Alesi Moreno.

He married Nancy Mock on November 1, 1997, in Corpus Christi, Texas, and she survives.

Robert was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He was a retired Airfield Maintenance Supervisor. He was very active with the Jackson County Park in Sparksville where he helped with building trails and several recreational facilities. He was a skilled auto mechanic and loved to barbecue. He was always willing to help anyone in need.

He is survived by his mother, his wife, Nancy, his children: Robert Martinez Jr., Kristen Silva, Shane Martinez and Shadd Hargett; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Sandra Logan and Olivia Cantu.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Jack Belk officiating.

Friends and family may gather at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church on Saturday after 10:00 am until time of service.

Robert(Chicho) was a good friend of mine while working at the airport in Austin(ABIA). He taught me many things about my job and helped me in many ways. Many nights we would keep each other awake talking about his Father being a tailgunner in B17's in WWII, his youth in Chicago and Austin. He was like another older brother in many ways.
