Roger Allen Huffman

June 25, 1952 - October 8, 2015

Roger Allen Huffman, 63 of Columbus, Indiana, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2015, at IU Med Center in Indianapolis.

He was born June 25, 1952, in Columbus, Indiana, the son of the late Harold and Mildred “Mickey” Lain Huffman.

He married Pam Moorman on April 15, 2006, in Seymour, Indiana, and she survives.

Roger was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers. He was a member of the 1970 graduating class of Columbus High School then went on to receive his Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Technology from Indiana State University. He worked at Cummins for 38 years until his retirement in 2014. His greatest joys in life were helping with the family farm and spending as much time as he could cherishing his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, children, Brent (Sherri) Huffman and Suzan (Brady) Lofton; two step-sons, Brian and Matt Kendall; four grandchildren, Kaytlin and Wyatt Huffman, and Bailey and Royce Lofton; a step-granddaughter, Lyndsay (Jake) Love; four great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Wyatt, Kevin, and Paris; his brother, Tim (Wanda) Huffman; sisters, Marilyn (Warren) Hinton and Sandy Huffman; three sisters-in-law, Terry (Mike) Searcy, Natalie (Doug) Fish, and Judy Burke; his mother-in-law, Betty Moorman, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Arthur “Art” Moorman.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October13, 2015, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, with Rev. Steven Wood officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Borchers.

Friends and family may call at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, on Monday from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday after 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Memorial checks may be written to Reins To Recovery because of his love for horses and children or St. Paul Lutheran Church, Borchers, General Fund.

I first met Roger in 1968 at CHS. I was shy, but Roger had a way of drawing me out in English Class & I haven't shut up since. When our paths would cross here at Cummins, we'd both get a good laugh of my being shy. No ones believes me, but Roger knew. Roger will forever be "one of the good ones". RIP Roger. You will be missed.

Roger and I grew up together, from young kids at Bethel Baptist Church near Walesboro, IN, all the way through high school at Columbus High School in Columbus, IN. He was a great person, and he was a great friend through all those years. He will be sadly missed. Our prayers go out to all of his family, loved ones, and to his siblings Marilyn, Sandy and Tim. I know them all well.

I first met Roger when he worked in Purchasing as a Commodity Manager and I was a Planner/Buyer. Years later we worked on several New Product/VPI Programs, he had the Material lead for CTC and I for RMEP. He was always helpful and supportive. He loved his family and his horses. A special man.

My papal was an amazing man that was greatly loved by everyone! Some of my most greatest and loved memories involved working on my truck and horse back riding! I could also never forget cutting wood every winter! I miss and love you greatly papal!! Keep watching over me and laughing at every blonde moment I have!!!
