Ruth A. Rueter Goecker

January 5, 1935 - July 19, 2014

Mrs. Ruth A. Rueter Goecker, 79 of Seymour, formerly of Madison passed away July 18, 2014 at 11:45 p.m. in the Schneck Medical Center, Seymour.

Born January 5, 1935 at Sauers, Ruth was the daughter of Herman and Emma (nee, Schrier) Waldkoetter. Ruth was baptized in Saint John’s Lutheran Church at Sauers on January 27, 1935 and was confirmed there on April 10, 1949, with her confirmation verses taken from Psalm 145:18-19.
On November 20, 1954, in Seymour she married David Rueter, who preceded her in death on August 3, 1985. On September 5, 1987, she married Harold Goecker who survives.

Ruth was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Seymour. She was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Madison, Indiana.

Ruth was employed for 30 years with Grote Manufacturing in Madison, Indiana. Locally, from 1992 until her retirement in 2001, Ruth was employed with Schneck Medical Center in Seymour as a CNA. Ruth also was active as a volunteer for the Pregnancy Care Center in Seymour. Ruth enjoyed cooking, canning and spending time with her family, as well as offering care to others.

She is also survived by her three daughters: Beth Rueter (Steve) Sharer, Debra Rueter, and Sara Rueter (Jim) Schafer; seven grandchildren, Dr. Kristopher (Stacey) Williams, Jeremy Feuerstin, Justin Feuerstin, Mark (Kiley) Schafer, Alissa Sharer Carr, Ben (Brandi) Schafer, and Sam Schafer; a sister, Helen Schryer; a brother, Glen (Dee) Waldkoetter; and ten great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and first husband, Ruth was preceded in death by three brothers: Harry, Alfred, and Coulter Waldkoetter and three sisters: Norma Jean Whitsett, Irma Able, and Elsie Fritz.

The Service of Christian Burial will be Monday, July 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Ralph Blomenburg, Pastor Philip Bloch and Pastor James Rodriquez officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 PM in Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison, Indiana.
Calling will be at the Voss Chapel Seymour, Sunday July 20, 2014 from 4-8 p.m. and Monday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church from 12 noon until time of service.

Ruth was an awesome woman who I have known for 50 + years, I spent many nights at her home with my best friend Beth. One of the things I remember is that she seemed to put corn in everything from cornbread to eggs, I always thought that was weird. She always made me feel welcome. David and Ruth even took me on a trip to Florida with their family when I was 16. She was a wonderful mother, I know she will be greatly missed, but she brought three beautiful daughters into this world who have brought their own beautiful families into the world. She and David left a wonderful legacy behind, and now together again they can rest in peace in the arms of our Lord, Jesus Christ, by the way Ruth, say hello to my mom for me.....until we all meet again.....you will be missed, rest in peace, love you Lea Ann

Ruth was such a good friend to me when she lived across the street from me in Dudleytown. She was such a good cook; I remember her persimmon cookies. she always laundered and ironed our baby clothes at PCC to give to the new mothers. She truly lived a life of service. My sympathy is with the family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Our God Jehovah can provide the peace that surpasses all understanding. Phillippians 4:6,7. I encourage you to draw closer to Jehovah all the time, but especially during times of grief. James 4:8. Jehovah promises to be close to those broken hearted and cursed in spirit. He can comfort you now, along with your precious memories of dear Ruth. Psalms 34:18.
