Thomas A. Baldus

October 8, 1947 - June 4, 2015

Thomas A. “Tom” Baldus, 67, of Seymour, Indiana, formerly of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Schneck Medical Center.

Tom was born October 8, 1947, in Beech Grove, Indiana, to the late Joseph and Marie Koers Baldus.

He married Carol on April 27, 1998, in Lawrence, Indiana, and she survives.

After serving in the United States Air Force during Vietnam, Tom then went to college and earned his degree in Nursing Home Administration. He then became the administrator of two nursing homes one being in Greensburg and the other in Monticello. After that, he went to work at East Gate Postal Service in Indianapolis, Indiana, until his retirement. He loved gardening and enjoying time with his family.

Tom is survived by his wife, their children, Marc (Amie) Baldus, Carrie (Steve) Fuchs, Megan Baldus, and a stepson, Robert Sears; 2 grandchildren, Ty Stuehrenberg and Kamdin Tallent; 2 sisters, Marie (Louis) Coy, and Bernie Rollison; his mother-in-law, Mary Anna Kellams, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Joseph Baldus.

Services will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. at Voss Chapel, with Father Dan Staublin officiating.

Friends may call after 12:00 p.m. until time of service. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Voss Chapel.

Burial will follow the service at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Four Corners.

Memorial checks may be written to American Heart Association.

Full Military Graveside rites will be conducted by the V.F.W. post 1925, American Legion post 89, DAV, Korean and Vietnam Veteran’s all of Seymour.

Uncle Tom - I'm sad that you've left us so soon and pray that you rest in eternal peace. Even though I was quite young (maybe 8) my fondest memory will always be you and a buddy tossing me back and forth like a sack of potatoes across Grandpa & Grandma's living room! What fun for a kid! Tom will be missed and memories of him while in Peach Grove as a kid. Then he became the bond of the families in Indiana and Ohio as he held together the relationships of the Baldus & Sterwerf & Koers families. His memories will be cherished and his character will be remembered to all. Condolences to all in the loss of Tom.

Uncle Tom had such a big, enthusiastic personality. He loved his family so much, even his in-laws and extended family, and always tried to bring people together. When he cared about something or someone, he really cared and it was evident. Uncle Tom, you'll be missed. I'm so glad I got to see you the last couple of times you came up to Indy.
