Virgil Klosterman, 94, of Seymour, Indiana, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015, at home surrounded by his family.
Virgil was born May 10, 1921, in Dudleytown, Indiana, the son of Henry and Lydia (Brethauer) Klosterman.
On November 14, 1942, he married Pauline Melloncamp who preceded him in death October 7, 2002. He married Patricia Darlage on September 25, 2004, and she survives.
Virgil was a lifelong member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown. He was employed at the Jackson County Farm Bureau Co-Op for 33 years before moving to Venice, Florida. in 1979. He retired from Bates File in 1986. He was a member of Lakeside Lutheran Church where he served as an elder and was on many boards and committees. Virgil was very involved in A.A.L. and was president of Branch 5439. He and his wife, Pauline, were active in the Migrant Ministry in Immokalee, Florida. In 1998, he moved to Sarasota and became a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. He returned to Jackson County in 2001.
Virgil is survived by his wife, Pat, his daughter, Barbara (Thomas) Noble, his sons: David (Donna) Klosterman, Robert “Bob” (Kimberly) Klosterman; his grandchildren: Renee Riani, Kirsten Shafer, Mitzi Pearson, Michael Klosterman, Jeffrey Klosterman, Bradley Klosterman, Jennifer Culver, Chelsey Klosterman; great grandchildren: Alexander Klosterman, Rachel Klosterman, Amory Klosterman, Anaka Riani, Rebecca Riani, Ella Shafer, Spencer Pearson; Olivia Culver and Brooklyn Culver, four step-children, six step-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, and his sister, Edna Lambring.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown, with Pastor David J. Whan officiating. Burial will follow at the Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends and family may call at Voss Chapel on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. and Wednesday from the church after 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
