Mrs. Virginia Ernest, 85, of Seymour, died on Monday, February 27th at 9:48 PM at the Lutheran Community Home.
She was born Virginia Picklesimer, August 31, 1931 in Jennings County, to Kendrick Clay Picklesimer and Ida Mary (Neilus) Picklesimer. She married Max W. Ernest on July 16, 1963 in Seymour. Max and Virginia had two children, Jeffrey Max Ernest and Paul “Wesley” Ernest, who survive. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Clay Wesley Ernest, Sara Michelle Ernest, Chad Jeffrey Ernest and Isaac Mathew Ernest, five great grandchildren Daisy Ernest, Delany Hausberger, Madelyn Davers, Briceon Ernest, and Brealei Ernest, and a sister, Lucille Wilkerson Reynolds. She was preceded in death by two brothers, William Picklesimer and Robert Clay Picklesimer.
Virginia graduated from Hayden High School in 1949 and went on to graduate from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary as the youngest ever to graduate there with a Masters in Classical Organ.
She was a former member of the Eastern Star, Chamber of Commerce, the Downtown Retail Merchant’s Association, past Vice President of the State PTA, and a member of Delta Theta Tau.
Funeral service will be held at Central Christian Church at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 4, with burial immediately following at Riverview Cemetery.
Family and friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday, March 3, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and from 9:00 to 10:00 AM on Saturday at Central Christian Church.
