Mr. William H. Thompson, 80 of Seymour, IN., passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in St. Cloud, Florida.
William was born in Seymour on September 29, 1936, the son of the late Clark and Ruth (Wells) Thompson.
On May 19, 1957, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek, he married Carol Louise (Schlehuser) Thompson, who passed away August 24, 2010.
He graduated from Cortland High School in 1954. He was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church White Creek. He completed an Agriculture course from Purdue. He enjoyed traveling and fishing and loved spending time with family.
William was a farmer who lived to farm. In his early years, he not only farmed but he also established and ran a sawmill. Not one to stay idle, his career included working for Best Way, Big Blue Warehouse and then starting his own company, WCT Inc. For the last 10 years he was busy rebuilding the family farm, a Hoosier Heritage Farm in Cortland.
William is survived by his children: Jeffrey (Rosalind) Thompson, Scott (Lisa) Thompson, Jennifer (Doug) Borcherding, and David (Barbara) Thompson, grandchildren: Christopher Thompson, Abby (Alex) Eddy, Alexander and Hope Thompson, Sam, Will and Mollie Borcherding, Caroline, Dylan and Mallory Thompson, great grandchildren: Kaylen and Easton Eddy, sister: Janet (Ray) Moore, brother: Robert (Faye) Thompson, sister in laws Janet (Durbin) Day and Joanne Schlehuser.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 53 years, Carol.
Funeral service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, White Creek on Wednesday, February 22nd, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Justin Whitmore, officiating. Graveside service will follow at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, White Creek.
Family and friends may call at Voss & Sons Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and from the church on Wednesday after 10:00 a.m. until time of service
