Wilma Jean Summers, 83, Seymour, died July 18, 2014 at the Lutheran Community home in Seymour. She was born November 1930 in Indianapolis, IN to the late Paul R. Summers and Josephine Rich Summers.
Miss Summers graduated from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis and from Wellesley College, Wellesley, MA. She received a Masters Degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and began her teaching career at Mills College, Oakland, CA. After moving to Germany, she taught for thirteen years at army based schools in both Mannheim and Stuttgart. Returning to the U.S., she and a friend opened an art gallery in Seattle which Jean managed for several years. She later worked in real estate until her retirement.
She is survived by a sister, Jo Ann Montgomery Scully, a nephew, Douglas (Martha) Montgomery, and two nieces, Elizabeth Ann (Nicholas) McKeever and Dr. Patricia (Karl) Kovach. Three grand-nieces and five grand-nephews also survive.
A Memorial Service will be conducted at 4:30 p.m. Sunday August 10 at the
First Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be at the church from 3:30 p.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to Wellesley College.
